Blessing

On the first Sunday of every month our priest calls everyone who has a birthday or anniversary to come up to the altar for a blessing. Usually I skip this, preferring to celebrate these personal holidays, well, personally, but this year Brian turned to me with a smirk and said "Well?". "Fine" I said, and began the trek up to the altar (we always sit in the very back, in case we need to make a quick getaway). The kids decided that something was up and that they had to come with me. While we walked I explained that it was Mommy's birthday and Father Marc was going to say a blessing for me. As we were nearing the front of the church Cate said, in her "church voice" (which is only slightly softer than her "tantrum voice") "Mom? Are you SURE you're turning 51?!?"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! I'm the village birthday idiot, I never know whose b-day is when (okay, I know my brother's is tuesday, but I haven't gotten a card yet, ugh!)

Because I have known you for soooo long, and we are the same age, I can confidently correct Cate and say that not only are you not 51, you are a mere 29 :-)

Yes, that is true. And I know you know this because I believe you recently turned 29 as well, did you not? Cheers to both of us then!
