OK, time to get back in the saddle......so we will kick of this re-nascence with some show and tell: namely my new favorite craft. Making nightgowns out of old pillowcases. No, not your average pillowcase nightgowns/dresses. Please. Those are so 6 months ago. No, no, no, I'm talking serious nightgowns with seam binding and sleeves even. Although I'm making more of the sleeveless versions right now, 'cause it's summer here dontchyaknow and it gets freakin' HOT. So no sleeves!
I've made several already for the girls and their friends, but here is the latest one, which I made for Lauren's daughter Violet. When I found the pillowcase I knew it had to be for her. It took me a while to find a fabric I liked for the bodice, but I think the one I finally chose really works. The bright cornflower/aqua blue is the exact same color as her eyes.....
And here is the lovely one herself, wearing her signature nightgown:
Is she not the most beautiful babe in the world? That smile! Those curls! I just want to gobble her up!
I have several more pillowcases, as well as plans to make more nightgowns, so who knows? Maybe in a few months I'll post a few more pictures.....snicker snicker snicker.......
Also: for anyone who is interested, my friend Elise found this pattern at a blog called
Sew Mama Sew! It is a free pdf pattern, and it is very very easy. I can make one in about an hour, from start to finish.
